After releasing his debut mixtape exploring escapism and party culture, Marcus Connolly knew he was eventually going to have to come back down to earth. ‘Fresh Hell’ is a look into the chaos and uncomfortable inevitability of growing up. Entering adulthood kicking and screaming, Marcus pulls inspiration from his life in a way he has never done before. Exploring themes of anxiety, fear of the future and self doubt, Fresh Hell is a far development from the glitchy party pop anthems Connolly had gained a reputation for. Trading in the playful electronic sound for gritty, rough and at times abrasive instrumentation, Marcus’ second project is a world away from Dreamland and leans much more towards 90’s inspired punk pop with a modern day twist.
